ABOUT US
Founded in 2016 by Lauren Hall Bushman and Michael Bushman, Irvington Counseling, LLC was created in response to a deep desire to meet the evolving mental health needs of our community. What began as a small, relationally rooted practice grew into Irvington Counseling Collective, Inc., a nonprofit organization committed to expanding access to care and reimagining how therapy could be offered with equity, creativity, and compassion at its core. To witness people navigating loss, growth, identity, relationship, and healing, and to be entrusted with those stories, is something we hold with profound respect and care.
After half a decade of building, learning, and serving within a larger collective model, Lauren is now returning to our roots as a clinician working independently under Irvington Counseling, LLC. This transition reflects a desire to return to a more intimate and sustainable way of practicing, one that allows deep presence with the work and people served.
Living on the Earth is a reflection of what this journey has taught us. It is a reminder that as human beings, we are continually learning how to live with greater awareness, compassion, and responsibility toward ourselves, one another, and the earth that we share. Our approach to therapy is grounded in this understanding. Healing is about presence, relationship, and the ongoing practice of care for ourselves, which ripples outward into care for the world and the people within it.

We look forward to slowing down with you long enough to tend to what is asking for your attention, with the shared hope of helping you feel more at home in the stream of your own life.
MICHAEL BUSHMAN (he/him) MSW, LCSW
I approach therapy as a space of shared curiosity, where we can slow down together and listen more closely to what your life is asking of you. Many of the people I work with are navigating anxiety, depression, grief, questions of meaning, or the lingering impact of trauma. Together, we make room for these experiences while also exploring what it might look like to move toward a life that feels more connected, creative, and aligned with what matters most.
My style is grounded, relational, and reflective. I draw from mindfulness-based approaches to support a more compassionate and flexible relationship with difficult thoughts and emotions, while also honoring the deeper stories and patterns that shape how we move through the world.
I work with older adolescents and adults from a wide range of backgrounds and warmly welcome individuals navigating life transitions, spiritual questions, creative blocks, and experiences related to illness, death, and loss.
My clinical approach integrates Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), psychodynamic theory, Gestalt therapy, and mindfulness-based practices. This allows us to explore both present-moment experience and the historical roots of patterns, while cultivating greater awareness, choice, and self-trust.
I am a co-founder of Irvington Counseling Collective, Inc., where I have also serve as a clinical supervisor to postgraduate therapists, supporting the development of thoughtful, relationally grounded clinicians and see clients there, as well. In addition to private practice, my background includes work with the IU Health Employee Assistance Program and as a clinical interventionist with Indiana University, supporting individuals and families impacted by cancer.
I earned my Master’s in Clinical Social Work from Loyola University Chicago and completed a postgraduate psychotherapy residency at the Christian Theological Seminary Counseling Center. I am also a Fellow of the University of Chicago’s Advanced Contextual Behavioral Therapy program.
I offer both in-person and HIPAA-compliant telehealth sessions for clients in Indiana.

LAUREN HALL BUSHMAN (she/they) LCSW, LMSW, PMH-C
When we feel secure enough to explore our internal world with curiosity and compassion, we can begin to notice the patterns of behavior and belief that no longer serve us and gently shift toward new ways of being in relationship with ourselves and others. I understand my role as creating a relational space where you are known, cared for, and respected. From this foundation, change can take root.
As we deepen awareness of the places that hold pain, we can begin to meet them with care as compared to judgment, allowing meaningful and sustainable change to emerge.
I specialize in generalized and acute anxiety, complex trauma, perinatal mental health, identity transition, grief and loss. My approach is integrative and grounded in humanistic and mindfulness-based therapies, with an emphasis on the connection between mind and body. I draw from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), EMDR, Hakomi, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Compassion-Focused Therapy.
I hold advanced training in perinatal mental health through Postpartum Support International and provide neuro-affirming, differential diagnostic assessments under medical supervision. I earned my Master’s in Clinical Social Work from the University of Chicago and completed a postgraduate residency at CTS Counseling Center. My background includes work with Indiana University’s Department of Psychiatry supporting individuals with cancer and their families, as well as serving as a Clinical Supervisor Consultant for Goodwill of Central Indiana’s Nurse-Family Partnership.
I am also a certified End of Life Doula through the University of Vermont, which informs my work with grief, loss, and the complexities of being human across the lifespan.
I work primarily with women and gender-expansive individuals and offer both in-person and telehealth sessions for clients in Indiana and Michigan.
